Tracy is engaging, humorous, thorough, and very adept with questions that have given me a deeper connection to the how and why of “I am.”
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda or Science of life is a holistic medical system from India. It is one of the oldest continuously practiced medical systems on the planet dating over 5500 years old. It was designed by the yogis and seers to allow for maximum longevity, health and happiness. It seeks to harmonize the body, mind and life force based on a number of principles in nature, relative to each individual’s genetic constitution and present state of health or dis-ease.
Ayurveda is another way to look at your body and your health, that is simple and practical. What I find so amazing is that once we understand our true nature or “dosha”, which doesn’t change from birth, it is fairly typical how we go out of balance, the signs of imbalance, and how we can be brought back into balance. It focuses on preventing disease, optimizing vitality as much as removing disease.
By understanding one’s basic constitution and present condition according to Ayurveda, we can customize a lifestyle plan for optimum health, peace of mind, and longevity. We will utilize a number of different modalities such as dietary recommendations, herbs, botanicals, exercise & yoga poses, breathing techniques, meditation, essential oils, music, colors etc.
Through this personalized approach many are discovering that these ancient principles are easily applicable to modern life and that they have the power to create health and contentment.
Doshas
The three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, are derived from the five elements of nature, which are: Space (akasha), Air (vayu), Fire (tejas), Water (jala), and Earth (prithivi).
